The Challenge
In 2008, the agency began looking for the best solution to accomodate a new project for application deployment across several hundred users. Because of the sensitive nature of the information they dealt with, maintaining a high level of security was a primary concern for the deployment. The agency determined that any solution must utilize a two factor authentication process.
The Solution
After reviewing the company's specific challenges and needs, CentriNet spearheaded the development of a solution designed to provide a secure method of application delivery. CentriNet focused on creating the architecture for and building a virtual Citrix XenApp environment within a VMware ESX infrastructure, supporting five hundred users. To accomodate the agency's security requirements for user authentication, CentriNet integrated a two factor smart card solution into the XenApp hosted applications. Moreover, CentriNet provided a detailed completed design and installation documentation for government records.
The Results
By implementing CentriNet's recommended solution, the agency was able to provide secure applciation deployment to all of its users. With smart cards, users were provided with universal access from any workstation, from any location within the facility, allowing instant logon and logoff capabilities without sacrificing security. "Our team members have attained the highest levels of certification in Citrix and VMware. They bring to this project a deep level of expertise in both these technologies," said Dario Ferreira, Technical Director at CentriNet. "Ultimately, we were able to deliver a complete, robust solution that met our own and the client's expectations."
